Adrian Wallis 
BSc (Hons), MSc, MBA, FIMechE, FAPM, MIAM

Lakes BioScience CEO, Adrian has more than 40 years of industry experience working for ICI, BNFL, Ciba Geigy and Novartis in a variety of roles including engineering, operations, manufacturing, projects and programme management. 

As Programme and Operations Director at Novartis, Adrian was responsible for the delivery of a multiple investment project portfolio of more than $1bn in Germany, Switzerland and the UK. 

Since leaving Novartis, Adrian has established a successful consulting business working with a wide variety of pharma/biotech, oil and gas clients, most recently providing senior organisational and strategic programme advice to the nuclear industry. 

Adrian is passionate about encouraging young people into the manufacturing industry, having supported technical apprentice and graduate development throughout his career.

Pat McIver

One of the founding directors of Lakes BioScience, Pat has more than 30 years’ pharma industry experience including leadership roles in commercial, logistics, aseptic manufacturing, business systems, communications and strategic programme management. 

A proud advocate of the local community and talent, Pat previously headed GSK’s plans for a flagship UK biopharmaceutical facility in Ulverston. 
 
Pat maintains strong relationships with key regional government and economic development organisations to drive this vision forward.

Professor Gino Martini 
BSc (Hons), PhD, MBA, FRPharmS, FEIPG

Gino is Visiting Professor of Pharmaceutical Innovation at King’s College, London after having held the Chair in Pharmaceutical Innovation at King’s for five years.

Gino, who is also Visiting Professor at the University of Bradford, is a registered practicing Industrial Pharmacist and a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Prior to his career in academia, Gino spent more than 17 years working at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, Roche Products Ltd and Shire Pharmaceuticals in a variety of technical, commercial, innovation-based and medical affairs roles, directing groups in the US, Europe and emerging markets.

​Ian Allan
BSc, CEng, MIEEE

Ian is the Chief Technical Officer for Lakes BioScience and Managing Director of the Digital Technologies Group. With over 35 years’ experience of facility technology design and programme delivery of systems and applications, Ian was the founder of Infinity Automation, providing business analysis and digital automation strategy development, including lifecycle management services, to the Life Sciences industry. Formerly Global Head of Automation and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, Ian was also Global Automation Director for GSK for 10 years.

Tim Cooper
BSc (Hons), ACMA, CGMA

Tim is a Director at Lakes BioScience and a management accountant and strategist with 30 years’ international industry experience in Finance and Supply Chain strategy.
 
Previously VP of Finance and, more recently, Head of Network Strategy at GSK, Tim has a proven track record of optimising value in the manufacturing network, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
 
Experienced in business case development and delivering supporting processes and governance, he takes pride in ensuring secure, cost-effective supply for patient-critical products.
